There is a legacy of the values our parents teach us when raising us.  My father always worked hard to instill good values in my life and I am still trying to learn about them:).  That is exactly what I would like to do with my kids.  My dad just passed away last Thursday and while being sad, it just felt right to write the following letter to thank him:

Dear Daddy,

I just wanted to tell you one more time what I could not say for the last time. I would like to thank you for everything you gave me and did for me. Thanks for all your teachings and all your advice. Thank you for always giving your best and for offering the best life a daughter could ever ask for it. Thank you for teaching me the good and bad and to never give up. Thank you for believing in me. I am specifically grateful for your relentless financial and emotional support towards my dream of going to a university in the United States. I still remember the countless hours of advice and cheering, so I could believe in me as a young woman while living away from my home country in Mexico. In this letter, I promise you that I will continue to work hard to be a good woman and human being.  Just like you once thought me to be!

Heaven has one more angel.  This angel is 6′ 4″ and has a big heart. I am sure that the “Big Shot” guys are very happy to have you with them now. I will always remember and love you daddy!

Querido Papi,

Tan solo te quiero decir una vez más lo que no pudo decirte por última vez. Por este medio, te quiero agradecer por todo lo que me diste como ser humano y padre. Por todas tus enseñanzas y todos tus consejos. Por siempre, siempre dar lo mejor de ti y trabajar toda tu vida para darme lo mejor que una hija pudo pedir en su vida. Gracias por ensenarme lo que es bueno y malo. Gracias por  ensenarme que debía superarme no importa que pasara. Gracias porque siempre creíste en mí y me ayudaste no solo económicamente pero emocionalmente para lograr uno de mis sueños, el de terminar una carrera universitaria en los Estados Unidos. También, gracias por haber sido un gran ejemplo como profesional, hombre exitoso, luchón y de grandes valores humanos. En esta carta te confirmo que aunque estoy muy triste por tu partida, continuare trabajando duro para ser una buena mujer y ser humano con mis semejantes. Tal y como tu siempre me enseñaste!

El cielo tiene ahora un angel mas.  Este angel es un angel de 2 metros con un gran corazón. Estoy segura que ellos están felices de tenerte alla por esos rumbos. Te recordare y querre siempre papi!!
